Missouri Sonnet 5

The other day we sold some milk bottles
back to the grocery store to get the deposit
back, and we got about sixteen dollars back
in deposits for the milk bottles. Both large

and small bottles all have the same deposit
charged on them when they are purchased,
and both large and small bottles will get you
the same amount of deposit money back when

the bottles are returned to the store. The lady
and the check out lane didn't look too intensely
and the bottles I returned for the deposit. She
just counted them up and handed me the cash.

She was a young woman. I didn't look too  intensely
at her, just enough to see who I  was working with.
