I don't understand the public library's reasoning for what they do. They have computers for people to use - great. They quit making people use their library card numbers to log onto the computers - great, no worries. Yet, now, they make the computer log out after an hour of use, but you can just log right back into the computer. However, everything that you had up is now closed and you have to open up things and log back into them . . . why not just have a way to close out when done with the computer? That would make more sense . . .

  • Kenneth Larot Yamat Bring your laptop instead.
    • Bridget Ilene Delaney I know I could. I didn't have it from where I came. It wasn't a big deal for me . . . . but what if people don't have laptops? What if they need to take a timed test? I mean, for people who don't have luxuries like laptops they can bring places, the library's Internet and computers may mean the difference between getting a job or not . . .
    • Kenneth Larot Yamat The library usually has a computer dedicated for things like work searches. At least they did in San Jose. But the patron in required to speak with a staff member before being allowed to access that computer.
    • Bridget Ilene Delaney Kenneth Larot Yamat Well, I don't live in San Jose. This is how these computers are done. You CAN speak to a staff member if the computer says it is going to end the session . . . but you have to do that fairly quickly . . .
    • Kenneth Larot Yamat Ask a staff member if it's possible to override the timer and mention you need more time.
    • Kenneth Larot Yamat When you have an issue with something at the library, talk to a staff member to see if an accommodation can be made. Facebook doesn't manage the library.
