Jalisco # 16 by Yesenia Obrador

The table has a leg that's shorter than
the other three legs and because of this
it wobbles, but this is where I began
my poetry writing and with great bliss
eat my dinners. I think that the wobbling
gives the table a character that's not
present in other tables where gobbling
meals takes place and the diners are not fraught
with the fear of the stand tipping over.
There are better tables and there are worse
tables for eating and writing, ever
better tables with legs for writing verse,
but it's this table, this wobbly broken
table where to me my verse is spoken.
