Jalisco # 14 by Yesenia Obrador

I'm trying to stop smoking cigarettes,
it's a very difficult thing to do,
with the cash I save I can pay down debts,
and let all the money I save accrue.

I've stopped buying cigarettes by the pack,
I buy one or two from people smoking,
this might make my lungs a little less black
because I'm not spending all day toking

on cigarettes one after the other.
I imagine that over time my lungs
will heal, and my teeth will be like mother
of pearl: shiny, bright, and white; and my tongue’s

sense of taste will improve I'll eat fish eggs,
chicken eggs, duck eggs, steak, pork and lamb legs.
