Letters from Washburn Road

Get what you want
when
you see what
you

just get it

do you get it?
get it!
go out and get it
do you get it?

...

Metaphor # 1 by Cassandra Natualle

...

You can listen to the sound of a pea
colliding with a pea pod and then think
to yourself of how you would rather be
listening to the Weeknd as you sink

into a plush couch, listen, listen, just
listen. the sound of the pea and it's pod.
I believe that smoking pod is a must
before you die and are covered with sod.

Listen to the sound that the pea makes, hear
what sound the pod makes, smoke a pound of them
and tell your secrets to a woman dear
to you as your own mother. The pod on its stem

gathering sunlight for the peas within,
if they were junipers you could make gin.

Truth be told, I actually really am concerned about inflation, but I'm also concerned about wages and pay that never increase

Original Post:

Minimum wage in Georgia is $7.25. For a full time paycheck that is $580 BEFORE taxes. And y’all think that’s right? Go to hell.

My Response:

i dont feel threatened by a minimum wage increase like so many others in the thread. i find it odd that so many high earning, career oriented people with in-demand skills and real drive will have their lifestyles toppled by inflation. i think that people who say minimum wage earners need to get more skills to increase their income should look in the mirror and ask themselves what they themselves need to do adapt to the threat of a higher minimum wage and the supposed resulting inflation. but i think that, at the end of the month, a person earns as much as they want to. in missouri i made 6000 a month working 2 jobs. i have a degree, but my jobs didnt require any specialized skills.
