Fragonard # 17 by Helen Della Rosa

The mockingbird imitates other birds'
calls, probably to be a huge asshole;
if I were to imitate someone's words
I would be called an asshole too. The whole

reason the mockingbird mocks is to get
more chicks: mocking the sounds of car alarms,
clock alarms, the calls of roosters. My pet
parrot, who mocks me, and who hardly harms

me in the process, and for some reason,
I don't feel like the parrot is being
an asshole:  his mocking isn't treason
against me his master, are you seeing

the difference between the two? The parrot,
and the mockingbird who mocks sans merit.
