I finished off the 19 day nightmare of the student loan stuff a few days early, and maybe it is kind of a good thing that I did because these last few days have been a nightmare when rideshare driving. I basically didn't make any money, not that rideshare driving is really profitable or anything, but I also didn't bring in any revenue. I think it is time to move on from this, but I don't really have any idea what else to do.
Everything is such a headache. I don't really know what else to do. There is this problem with the rideshare gigs where the pickups are an inordinately large portion of the entire trip. Some of the trips have something like a 10 mile pickup to the passenger, for a .5 mile ride, and it really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to do those. In many cases I'm sure that there is someone closer to the passenger than I am if I am 10 miles away.
Nothing I have going on is turning out to be even remotely fruitful. Graduate school, a disaster, rideshare driving, a disaster. Everything is a disaster. Everything is a nightmare. I really have no clue what to do. I'm going through all of my old posts, or not all of my old posts, but many of my old posts, and there are all these posts of, you know, from like 7 years ago when I was a really avid user of Robinhood. After a while I used Robinhood less and less, partly because it was generating a lot of taxable income, and I had to set up tax-deferred accounts to offset that taxable income; Robinhood didn't offer those types of accounts at the time, so I had to set them up with a different brokerage, and by the time Robinhood did offer those types of accounts, I had started largely using the other brokerages.
Day trading isn't something that I really want to do in place of rideshare driving. The internet connection is just so bad, and I don't know if there is an issue with the wireless card in my laptop, but I think that there is an issue with it that I haven't figured out how to solve. I've tried different things, but the problem keeps coming back.
[Response to an article titled: A New California Proposal Could Effectively Ban All Aftermarket Tires from Being Sold in the State]
C02 emission from newly manufactured tires occur outside of California, but C02 savings from fuel efficient tires occur within California. No one in California actually cares if the Earth Dies from the excess C02 emissions that will result from their law that basically doubles the need for newly manufactured tires. What people in California care about is that California's GDP from new tire sales basically doubles when people in California are required to buy twice as many tires.

[Reddit Comment to post about being a Lyft passenger]
If a driver says something like: "I can't believe how far this is, you could respond with something like: "I can't believe it either, I've been trying to have them relocate the work location closer to my home for years, but some people just don't listen."

[reddit comment on post about uber driving]
Look. I'm surprised you haven't walked out already and switched from uber driving to trading uber stock. you wouldn't need to go long on every trade or anything.
[other notes about the student loan paydown process]
this thing that i did worked, the payment posted. i have to have it reapplied to the correct loans, but this more or less worked.
[YouTube comment on video related to filing tax extensions]
I'm glad I watched this video; I could never find a reason to file an extension since tax payments are due on April 15th, and kind of like you mentioned, I wouldn't know how much I need to send in until my return is complete, but okay, so I do a good faith estimate for what is due on April 15th, I pay it, and it turns out to be too much: I get a refund for the difference when I finally do file before October 15th, right? That thing you said about corrected tax statements from brokerage accounts also really caught my attention because on several occasions I received corrected consolidated 1099 forms from my brokerage account at what seemed like totally irrelevant times of the year for changes that were basically not even remotely material to the outcome of my tax return.

The operating costs we incur as drivers increases our exposure to inflation, so it makes sense to do what you are doing and accepting fewer and fewer rides: fewer rides results in less exposure to inflation.
